Taylor Kitsch was born in 1981 in British Columbia, Canada, and grew up in Vancouver. In 2002, he was selected by a modeling talent show to come to New York. He modeled for Abercrombie & Fitch, worked as a personal trainer and nutritionist, and studied acting with a drama coach. In 2004, he returned to Los Angeles to look for opportunities.

Koech's first film was snakes on a plane, made in his hometown of Vancouver. John Tucker must die, a popular teen comedy, also had walk-on roles.
