Colin Firth was a handsome English gentleman from a scholarly family. His father was a lecturer at the University of Winchester, and his mother was a well known lecturer in religious studies at an open university.
Colin Firth Played Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones's diary in 2001, and in 2004 he appeared in the sequel to Bridget Jones's diary, as the film's popularity made him familiar to audiences, he has played Mr. Duthie three times so far, in Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones. In 2003 he starred in films such as love actually and the girl with the Pearl earring. In 2005 he starred in films such as Where the Truth Lies and Nanny McPhee. Over the next few years, new releases were introduced each year, and his image of an introverted, reserved British gentleman captivated many fans.
He first dabbled in television, appearing in a number of roles, and in 1989 he won the National Board of Review Award for Best Actor for his television series shaky. In 1995 he appeared in the television version of Pride and Prejudice, and in 2001 he was named the 50 most handsome men by people magazine. In 1996 he appeared in the English Patient, starring Ralph Fiennes, and in 1998 he appeared in Shakespeare in Love, starring Joseph Fens, in which he lost his wives.
